TV screen test
A browser-based visual checklist for a TV. Use a browser or connected device that can show the patterns on the TV itself.
Check the panel at your normal settings
These are observations to repeat, not automatic diagnoses.
- 01
Open the check on the TV, or connect a computer that sends its output to that screen. Confirm the pattern is on the television you intend to inspect.
- 02
Use full-screen white and RGB fields to look for a point that stays fixed.
- 03
For LCD/LED sets, compare black and near-black from your normal seating position. For OLED, look for persistent shapes on gray and color fields after normal use.
- 04
Follow the TV maker’s model-specific care and warranty guidance. The browser neither checks every HDMI input nor measures panel output.
Put a pattern on the TV itself
A 4K test video is not required: the browser draws solid fields in the viewport. Confirm the image is on the intended TV and reaches the edges without cropping. Picture mode, local dimming, black-level settings, viewing distance, and the connected source can change what you see. If the pattern differs by HDMI input or device, compare one source at a time; this cannot diagnose the panel.
Choose a visual test
Use another camera if you need to document a physical mark; a screenshot records the image signal rather than the panel. For a problem that continues during normal viewing, contact the seller or manufacturer.
These checks have been simulated at phone and tablet viewport sizes, but ScreenCheckup has not been physically tested on every phone, laptop, or television/browser combination.
