Screen ratio calculator
Use this screen ratio calculator to reduce pixel width and height to a simple aspect ratio.
Calculate an aspect ratio
Enter pixel width and height to reduce their ratio. This aspect ratio finder describes the numbers you enter; it does not identify your physical display.
For example, 1920 × 1080 reduces to 16:9. For dimensions estimated from a diagonal, see the monitor size calculator; for browser-reported values, see the screen resolution test.
Common display aspect ratios
- 16:9 — 1920 × 1080, common on TVs and monitors.
- 16:10 — 1920 × 1200, used by some laptops and productivity displays.
- Ultrawide, about 21:9 — 3440 × 1440; the exact pixel ratio reduces to 43:18.
- 4:3 — 1024 × 768, a legacy and presentation format.
The calculator divides both numbers by the largest whole number that fits evenly in each. The result is the simplest ratio. Two displays can share a ratio but have different pixel counts. A ratio describes shape; it does not identify the physical panel or guarantee that a video will fill it without bars.
How to use the ratio calculator
- Enter the image or display width and height in pixels.
- Read the reduced ratio, then compare it with the source content or device specification.
- Use the monitor size calculator if you also know a diagonal measurement.
Values are calculated in your browser and are not uploaded. For the dimensions exposed by this device, open the screen resolution report.
